I started Common Ruin after leaving college as a means of working through the economic and philosophical theories which animated me as a young man, and that remain of ongoing relevance to my research. Aside from a platform for sharing my papers and book reviews, I also used the blog as a medium to write commentary on controversies and developments in the contemporary left. I stand by much of what I wrote but will concede that some of my thinking at the time was muddleheaded and erroneous. I will therefore be revisiting some of those themes here and–hopefully–presenting them in a more coherent and compelling manner. The early success of the blog motivated me to expand the project into a podcast of the same name, and I've been fortunate to have recorded material with figures I've long respected in academia and activism. Issues in my personal life have interfered with my ability to consistently contribute to the project, but I hope to resume writing and recording very soon. With that said, I am ever grateful to those of you who have been following my work through the years. Thank you for staying with me.
